Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status with his folk-based pop songs that were often rooted in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems, which are well-known, have drawn many people fans to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be a member. He is now regarded as a symbol of Colorado by people all over the world. It is a fact that when I travel you meet someone from the other part of the globe, someone of New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's biggest solo achievement after having performed in small folk groups. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff was the one who wrote the song in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver had the opportunity to listen to the song's early versions and was aware that it would become a top 10 hit. In the days following his performance before a large crowd in Washington D.C., the performer recorded his own song.
